Homegirl shop and blog is the product of Gina Bishop, a self-proclaimed “homie.” Gina, located in the Cleveland, OH area, hosts a popular barn sale multiple times a year, where she features tons of antiques, handmade crafts, and other unique treasures. Additionally, Gina is currently in the process of creating her own line of vintage-inspired home decor, she regularly posts video how-tos and recipes on her popular blog, and she’s always prepping for her next big sale! This homegirl is super busy, and has gained quite an internet, local, and even national following!
Behind the Project
I was more than a little humbled when Gina approached me about creating her new website. From our first conversations, I knew our styles and tastes would collide in the very best way, so it was an absolute honor to undertake this awesome website project!
Gina’s former website was a simple blog set up on Blogger, something that she set up herself quite a few years back. She was eager to get things migrated over to WordPress, and was beyond excited at the prospect of adding in e-commerce functionality for her new line of products.
We started the web design process with a rough sketch and wireframe of the overall site structure, and Gina gave me plenty of inspiration for her desired design direction. Our ultimate design goal was a very hand drawn and sketched look, to match her beautiful logo. Gina loved the idea of incorporating a watercolor look, to add some visual interest to the sketched images and handwriting on the site.
As pleased as I am with the finished product, I certainly cannot take all of the credit! With such a keen eye for design, Gina was a huge help in producing this website. Take a look at a few snapshots of the new site below and let me know what you think!
